It has been a learning for me to know how known people can fool you for a small sum of money. It is not the loss of money that hurts but the feeling that someone has taken you for a ride. I have been regularly helping people in need but this incidence has made me sad and I will now be more circumspect in helping others. Lakshmikantha, known for ~10 years, asked me 15K for some emergency that he promised to return in 5-6 days time. It happens to everyone and I generously gave the amount he ask. Since then, he has made umpteen promises of refunding but that never happened. I do not mind 15K if he were genuinely in need. His 15-20 promises of refunding the money has been made without an intention of doing so. He is in a well paying job and can easily return it sooner or later. The feeling of getting cheated from trusted / known people hurts me the most.
